Those who embark on the Self Discovery Journey of coming Home to Self, often feel a tussle happening within their being. These courageous beings brave enough to go to the inhabited rooms of the Self begin to notice the subtle truths of their inner and outer world.
Here’s the truth for anyone who stands at the Zero-Point of their Journey:
The Soul has no interest in pleasing anyone. Therefore, it is unafraid. Unafraid to do the impossible, unafraid to go against the grain. To take the path that’s not yet been disturbed by others’ footsteps.
There is no fear in it to dive deep into the underbelly of the Unknown. There is an excitement, a madness in its eyes. The child-like curiosity and fearlessness of a toddler who has just discovered its legs.
The soul does not concern itself with things such as success or failure, fame or reputation. What others think of the body it occupies is none of its business.
It is ravenous for only one thing. Having an adventure. It wants to strip down naked, howl at the moon, laugh like a maniac, and run down to that new, unexplored path others call “The Unknown”.
Those who haven’t been touched by the electricity of the Soul see her as a manic. But the Soul knows the truth. She is finally alive! Her cells jiggle with excitement, her heart beats in coherence and her senses blooms open like a red rose as she begins her adventure.
Soul’s only agenda is to journey back to Source, telling it of the adventure it has had on the way. Source (or Universe, God, or whatever you call it) waits for this and has in fact planned the entire Cosmos just for this part. And so It waits patiently, till the Self wakes up from its deep, long slumber and says “No More!” “We gotta go on this adventure and woah, we gotta clean up house as we go along.”
This kind of thinking is very dangerous to the Ego. It has run a tight ship so far with old habits, beliefs, and attitudes that have been established for years and years. The Ego will not have it. It won’t have this Mutiny. After all, an adventure into the Unknown is the very thing that jeopardizes its existence. The existence of the Ego relies on the fact no part of its being will ever venture into anything that’s unknown, without an itinerary, an escape plan, or control.
But the Soul’s existence is in the naked dance into the Unknown. It will do everything in its power to break through the monotony of life and hurl into the darkness with senseless abandon.
The Ego on the other hand will do everything in its power to hold the Soul back, tethering it to habits, and beliefs that put limits on your potential, your sense of joy, and peace. It creates a mirage that depicts that the only safe place is in the confines of the known reality of our 3-Dimensional world and within our identity - name, gender, title, net worth, and so on and so forth. It keeps the door to the Unknown locked and bolted.
Only two things can open it - Curiosity and Crisis.
Curiosity often comes in passing thoughts as you walk your dog or stare into traffic at a red light. Questions, but really they are SOS signals from the Soul: “Who Am I?”, “Is there more to my life than this?”, “Is this it?”
Feelings too. For me, it felt like a glass of sparkling water that had been left on the counter overnight. Stale, warm, tasted like piss.
A friend once described it as a “day-old Pizza”
Another said “Well, I don’t feel bad but I don’t feel good either”
And yet another said “I don’t know what it is, but something is missing from my life”
And when these questions, thoughts, or feelings are buried under our long to-do lists to amass more money, fame or success, Netflix or shopping binges, drugs or alcohol, you can be sure that Crisis will blast that door open.
And thus the Journey will begin.
With much love,
Deepshikha
