Maegan Megginson on Stepping Into the Void
🎧Listen (1 hr 6 Mins)| Navigating that liminal space when our careers no longer feel aligned but the next thing hasn't shown up in its fullness yet

Maegan and I met in a Business Mastermind in the year that shall not be named. She was someone I was instantly magnetized towards. “I want her to be my friend” my middle school self crooned in my inner ear.
We were both rocking our businesses and at the top of our game, so to speak. Our similar personalities and interests (in books especially!) led us closer. We became friends!!
And then, I stepped into the Void of my life and kinda lost touch with anyone and everyone. I needed to live in the cave for a while. But, Maegan has been a kind guiding voice in my life through her emails.
Recently we caught up properly and when Maegan told me what she has been up to in the last year, I felt seen! It seemed like both of us had been on the same path, albeit parallel.
I knew I wanted Maegan to talk about her experience of Stepping into the Void, but I didn’t know how much I needed to hear her words. In the entire episode, she eloquently described what I had been feeling in the last 2 years.
My only wish - I wish I heard this episode 2 years ago.
If you are currently navigating the liminal spaces of your career, if you are questioning everything that you have so far learned about Success and Career and de-tangling yourself from the Patriarchal narratives, if you are in that in-between stage of “I know I don’t want to do THIS (this being whatever you do to make money right now) but I don’t know what I want to do next” - - then this episode is for you!
Honestly, this entire episode is so good (and a must-listen!) and full of Maegan’s wisdom that comes from her years of experience as a Licensed Therapist, her own Spiritual Journey, and her lived experience — it’s hard for me to find just a few bullet points, but for the sake of it, here are some of my favorite moments:
The Soul-Awakening process that led Maegan to the truth of her desire - that her current business model was no longer in alignment with her and that she desired to blend in her work as a therapist with mentorship and guidance
The emotional process of letting go of her identity as a business coach and the importance of serving from a place of love rather than profit and then stepping into the mystery of not knowing what comes next.
The deep conditioning of Colonial Capitalism that lives in our nervous system and tells us to stay on one path and keep climbing the ladder to nowhere and the shame that comes when we deviate from that path
“I'm really working in my own life and my own process to own that my life is a creative process. And I want every day on this earth to be about my evolution. And evolution doesn't happen in one straight upward trajectory. It's a meandering path through the jungle. And I'm here for that. That journey feels so much richer and more interesting and more fulfilling to me than having to convince my present-day self that the decision my 21-year-old self made is still the decision that we should be acting on today.”
The importance of creating safety in our Nervous System and our life when are stepping into the void and the acknowledgment that the Unknown is scary.
How staying curious and asking the question “Why now” helped Maegan practice the discomfort of now knowing what’s next for her and at the same time stand in strength and integrity in rooms full of some very influential and successful people.
How to tell the difference between Depression and being in the fertile womb-like space of the Void and get the help you need
On being a 'double agent' who can walk in both the spiritual and material worlds and help others bridge the two.
what's being asked of me, I can feel the truth of it, is actually we need you to have one foot firmly planted in the spiritual and one foot firmly planted in the material, because we need you to be a translator between these two realms. So I think that is the message that comes through that today is most actively influencing the transformation that I'm going through, particularly in my professional work.
Maegan’s message is a powerful reminder that our personal process is our work in the world, and sometimes, we need to live “the questions rather than push for answers”

Which part of this episode resonated with you the most?
If you are in the “Void”, what is one practice/thought process/ ritual that sends a signal of safety to your Nervous System?
This is the time when many ‘double agents’ are being awakened in the world. Are you one? Or do you know one?

I haven't had the chance to listen yet, but I love what I read. I prefer to call that space The Divine Hallway, rather than the Void. But I have been there a few times, and am there right now. The door has closed behind me and the new one hasn't opened yet. So I'll just wait in the hallway. Thank you for writing about this!
